Paul Foley of Smart Capital
In this episode, Hall interviews Paul Foley, co-founder and CEO of Smart Capital, an equity crowdfunding platform that enables anyone to invest in venture funds for the very first time.
Paul talks about his beginnings in Adtech and how he started angel investing after selling the business. Noting a shortage of VCs in Colorado, Paul decided to start Smart Capital to let anyone invest in VC investments, in addition to creating a fund structure for Techstar companies that are revenue generating. Paul discusses the Smart Capital model, and how it differs from a Syndicate approach, providing greater returns through diversification. Angels with $100K that want to invest in startups are a good fit for this approach, as it allows for diversification in 30 companies with only a $100K investment.
Paul also talks about the future of crowdfunding, and some of the big influencecs he sees on the horizon.
