Praveen talks about how he got into venture capital after a background as a CPA. Praveen worked as part of a family office with his father and brother. With the capital and experience gained over the past 10 years, they’ve transitioned into a family office/venture capital firm that focuses on three broad areas – mining resources, real estate, and social impact investing.

Praveen discusses the key things Varshney looks for when investing, and how they discovered social impact investing. Varshney looks for vision and passion in their entrepreneurs, as well as ideas, products, and projects with global impact. Recurring revenue is also a critical component that they look for. Hall and Varshney discuss the future of social impact investing, why it is important, and why it doesn’t have to come at the expense of returns.
