John Pope and James Walker of WellDog
In this episode, Hall interviews John Pope and James Walker of WellDog, an energy-focused technical services company that provides practical engineering and business solutions in a high volume, cost effective manner with a remarkable customer focus.
John and James talk briefly about their background before WellDog, and how they got into the unconventional oil and gas space. James explains how, as the oil and gas industry has plateaued, technology-driven companies like WellDog are providing critical tools for growth.
John explains how WellDog has helped oil and gas companies deal with price challenges in two ways. New technologies can increase both supply chain and business operation efficiencies, together with exploration and production efficiencies.
John and James also talk about how the realities and risks of a revenue-stream focus led them to a more diversified approach. Most importantly, they decided to focus on selling solutions that the customers already purchase. As John states, a “cost effective model with a strong service component and very strong technology component has been very successful for WellDog”. John and James talk about where they see the unconventional oil and gas industry headed, and some of the challenges and opportunities in dealing with a worldwide supply chain.
Finally, John offers his advice for investors in the space.
